San Pedro de Atacama in 3 days

Day 1st: Moon valley and death valley

Starting at San Pedro with direction to the salt hills, the place of convergence between the Death valley and the Moon valley, part of the Flemish National Reserve, in this geological formation we can appreciate tourist attractions like:

Salt caves: Geological formations located in Salt hills deformed strata
Three Marys or The Sentinels: Naturally formed sculptures due to saline rocks erosion and weathering. Corresponding to ancient stony systems with more than a million years.
Major Dune: Eolic deposits of medium and fine particles of sand, the major dune reach an approximately high of 2616 m.a.s.l. Nevertheless it lost about 4 meters due to a big earthquake in 2007, all this plus the erosion produced by the human presence in the place.

Day 2nd: Lagoons and Altiplanic Salt flats

This excursion is one of the high lights in San Pedro de Atacama, due to spectacular scenarios and ecosystems of this travel
Starting at San pedro with direction to Socaire village, about 86 kms at southeast from San Pedro and at 3.400 masl. Here we will discover the ancient crops terraces and the current andean shepherds, we walk around to learn about the stone architecture and San Bartolomé church, built during the colonial period.

Lagunas Miscanti y Miñiques: Located at 120 kms at southeast from San Pedro de Atacama, this kind of water mirrors are next to two same name volcanos. Then this travel follow through the international route and border crossing Sico to the Aguas Calientes salt flat, located at 3.950 masl, wich extension is about 46 square kms and, being part or a series of salt lakes in a volcanic chain.

Day 3rd: Tatio's Geysers / Puritama hotsprings

Formed by the Tatio volcano activity, it's the highest geothermal field around the world, wich extension is about 10 square kms, containing 40 Geysers, 75 fumaroles higher than 20 meters, 62 hot basset. 5 mud volcanos and 13 sulfato holes. This water flows are the origin of Salado river, wich trajectory extends longer than 80 kms until the Loa river.
At this point we will start the trekking around the Geysers and fumaroles, discovering the native andean flora and fauna like Vicuñas, foxes and some birds like andean seagull. In this trip we will visit the Machuca village on the way to Puritama hotsprings, one of the most visited turistic places in San Pedro de Atacama, to enjoy the relaxing termal waters around 91°F.
